Working together to inspire the community of Accrington, The Running Bee Foundation are proud to partner with Homes for Humanity for their upcoming Ron Hill Accrington 10K race, on Sunday 14th August 2022.

Helping military veterans, the homeless, low-income families, and young people striving for better opportunities, Homes for Humanity support those who need it most. They aim to provide people with a home to live in, as well as granting education, training, and employment opportunities.

Based in Accrington, Homes for Humanity care about every case they handle, offering expert guidance, but most of all a friendly face.

For their next project, they will be partnering with The Running Bee Foundation to provide an excellent active day for the people of Accrington.

Nichola Jones, CEO at Homes for Humanity said, “as a charity we feel honoured and privileged to be chosen to support the Ron Hill Race taking place on the 14th August in Accrington.

“The Running Bee Foundation, who organises the event, are closely associated with our ethos as a charity which supports families on low incomes, veterans and vulnerable individuals in our area.

“We promote the wellbeing of individuals from all backgrounds and believe participation in regular physical activity can increase self-esteem, reduce stress and anxiety and help lift people’s spirits!

“Ron Hill was and still is an inspiration to so many people in Hyndburn and one of the greatest runners of all time. We feel proud to be sponsoring an event that is named after such a local hero.”

The Ron Hill Accrington 10k is a historically rich and fast course, taking in the beauty and legacy of the legendary runner’s birthplace.

Celebrating the life of Ron Hill, athletes will be able to run, jog or walk in his footsteps, passing areas that shaped him as they explore the town.

The Running Bee Foundation is honoured to support Homes for Humanity in what is set to be a fantastic running event for the whole family.

Steve Kenny, Foundation Lead for The Running Bee added “the work Homes for Humanity do for veterans and the under-privileged is remarkable and we are delighted to be associated with the charity.  The Ron Hill Accrington 10K is not just about the race itself but the valuable support we can collectively give to the broader local community through promoting more active, healthier lives and championing better mental health”.

The Ron Hill Accrington 10K, taking place on Sunday 14 August at 9.30am, will see the Homes for Humanity team in attendance and on hand to offer support. Situated in the athlete’s village on the day, they are more than happy to chat with anyone present on the day.

The Running Bee Foundation endeavour to encourage people to pursue a more active, healthy lifestyle. The Ron Hill Accrington 10k is suitable for all runners, whether you’re training for a marathon or taking the step up from a 5k.
