There’s nothing like getting away for a little while. Some time to ourselves every now and again can be so beneficial for our mental health, and helps eliminate stress.
Running for stress relief can take you to places you may not normally go, but it could be somewhere you appreciate all the more once you arrive.
Whether it’s a quiet country lane or your favourite rolling fields, your run can offer you more than just exercise; It can offer the peace and tranquility you might not be getting enough of at home, in the workplace, or otherwise.

People always say exercise is a great way to “burn off steam” after a really hard day, and there’s a lot of truth to that. Running for stress relief can be even more effective if you really push yourself to smash your running goals.
There’s a lot of scientific reasoning as to why we feel so much better after giving one-hundred-and-ten percent effort in our exercise (we’ll get onto that shortly) but, in layman’s terms, we feel such a great sense of accomplishment in our run if we really give it everything we’ve got.
This isn’t for everyone, though. Sometimes a light job is the best way you can relieve stress… and that’s fine!
But if you are one of the people who prefers going for broke every time you lace up your trainers, running for stress relief is the perfect chance for you to push yourself and, quite literally, burn your stresses away.

There are various ways people try to reduce the stress in their lives: Changes to their schedule, diet changes, even medication in some cases.
But running for stress relief is actually one of the easier ways you can try to reduce your stress. It might not be easy in the sense of how much effort and energy you put into it – we just talked about pushing yourself, after all – but at the end of the day, it’s as simple as putting one foot in front of the other, right?
If you’re looking for a way to expel some of your pent-up stress, why wouldn’t you try something as easy and simple as running?

There have been countless studies that show a direct link between exercise and the successful treatment of mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and, yes, stress.
When we exercise, and when we run, our brain releases a number of endorphins (chemicals) that initiate positive emotions within us. This is why so many runners and athletes in training feel such a sense of pride and accomplishment after a hard day’s work – like we talked about earlier, remember?
