The Running Bee Foundation wins Community Initiative Award

Running Bee Wins Big at Pride of Tameside Awards!

The Tour of Tameside has always been one of our most popular and enjoyable running events. Which is why we are so thrilled to have been formally recognised by the community we serve!

The Pride of Tameside Sport & Physical Activity Awards, which celebrates the efforts of sports clubs and sports men and women in the borough including volunteers, selected the annual Tour of Tameside and The Running Bee Foundation as the winners of the prestigious Community Initiative Award.

The Tour of Tameside, a four-day running event allowing participants to run through some of Tameside’s most recognisable sights and routes, draws thousands of people each year and was first created by local marathon legend Dr Ron Hill way back in 1983.

When The Running Bee Foundation took over the organisation of the event last year, we ensured that all profits from our races, including the Tour of Tameside, would be made available to the Tameside community. Specifically for those involved in health and wellbeing initiatives, to help combat the rise of childhood obesity.

Runners enjoying the route!

The Community Initiative Award, which recognises local efforts to improve the community of Tameside, went to The Running Bee Foundation for our efforts in making the Tour of Tameside the best running event the borough has ever seen. And we couldn’t be more thrilled!

The event saw a record number of nominations received, which just goes to show the incredible difference that can be made to an area thanks to events and initiatives like The Running Bee Foundation.
