Taking Your Children to Their First Running Event!

Tackling childhood obesity is one of the most important missions of The Running Bee Foundation. As you’ll no-doubt ‘bee’ aware, the profits of our races go back to health and wellbeing initiatives in the communities we serve, who share our vision and views on childhood obesity.

But if we can catch the causes of childhood obesity in the early stages we have a much better chance of eliminating it altogether and creating a healthier, brighter future for the next generation.

That’s why, if we can, we need to get our children interested in keeping active as young as possible – which is what makes bringing your young ones along to Running Bee Foundation events such a great idea!

If you’re planning on participating in a Running Bee Foundation event and you want to bring your kids along to enjoy the fun, here are a few things to consider:

Preston 10K – Family Fun Run

The Preston 10K remains one of the most popular running events on our calendar! It always attracts professionals and running enthusiasts from around the world thanks to its pleasant, easy-to-manoeuvre running route through Preston City Centre.

But along with the main race there’s also a family fun run that parents can enjoy with their kids! Make your little one feel like the star of the show and an athlete in the making as they take on a shortened version of the official Preston 10K route.

Plus, they’ll get their very own commemorative medal when they finish. They’ll feel like a real-life running superstar!

Book yours and your little ones’ place on the race here.

Knowsley 10K – MyFirst Mile

If there was ever a running event more suited to the youngest members of your clan, it’s this one!

The brand new Knowsley 10K will see runners make their way through the iconic Knowsley Safari Park, amongst all the animals that make the Park such a hit with locals and tourists alike. Including zebras, rhinos and the mighty lion!

But, for as much as kids love animals, the real attraction here is that they’ll get to dress up as their favourite animal buddies! Those in the best fancy dress will even win a prize!

As well as this, they’ll get to take part in the MyFirst Mile initiative, which is designed to encourage people, both young and old, to run their first mile as part of developing an active, healthy lifestyle.

Jingle Bee Jog

If you’re thinking about getting your kids in the Christmas spirit some winter time, what better way to keep active (and warm) than taking them for a run at the Jingle Bee Jog?

Celebrating all-things Christmas in the form of a running event, the Jingle Bee Job invites people of all types and ages to gear up as their very best Christmas character and run for a good cause.

Santas, Elves and reindeer galore! And, when we say reindeer, we mean real-life reindeer! We’ve had real reindeer live and in the flesh to give your little ones a first-hand taste of real Christmas Magic. Here’s hoping Santa will let them come back to us this year!

Keep an eye out towards the end of 2020 for more news on this year’s Jingle Bee Jog.
