Runners race for in aid of Manchester NHS

The We Love Our NHS Manchester 10K took place at Heaton Park on Sunday 31st October, with runners raising money for good causes.

The race was hosted in a new location for 2021, the popular park and beautiful route of Heaton, which after a downpour brought sunny weather for those aiming for the finish line!

For the female category, Sophie Whittaker took first place and completed the route in 39.49. Following closely behind was Lisa Gawthorne from Liverpool Pembroke & Sefton Harriers in second place and Katalin Szabo from Chorlton Runners in third.

Mohammed Saleh took first place in the male’s category and crossed the finish line in 31:50.  Matthew Latham from Salford Harriers & AC came second and Jonathan Manning third.

The race also celebrated an exciting partnership between the Manchester Foundation Trust Charity and The Running Bee Foundation, and profits raised from the event will go towards the vital services and hospitals under the trust’s umbrella.

The event also hosted a Halloween Fun Run which saw families gather in fancy dress to complete a short course around the park.

Kevin Harmer, Events and Logistics Manager commented, ‘’we’d like to thank our runners and supporters for yet another successful 10k event! Despite the wind and rain, runners turned out in the hundreds to run and raise money for the local community. Heaton Park is a great venue and we’d like to thank them for all their support. All profits from the event will be granted to the Manchester Foundation Trust Charity and its hospital family, to continue to carry out the amazing work they do.’’
