The Benefits of Couples Running Together

Are you and your significant other both runners? Do you love heading out on a run together, or training together for your next running event? But if there’s only one runner amongst you, there’s never been a better time to join the countless other couples running together.

Here are just a few reasons why couples running together is so fulfilling to so many people:

It brings you closer together

This one is obvious, but it’s probably the most important point on this list.

Couples running together is a fantastic way to bring you both closer together and any couple that already runs together will tell you the same!

There’s something special about being able to share the running experience with someone you care about. As well as you both keeping fit and staying active, it gives you both time to escape the worries of the rest of the world and makes both of you the centre of your own shared universe.

And, if nothing else, it is a wonderful hobby you both can enjoy together!


There are times when running can get really rough; you’re dehydrated, your legs begin to give way and you feel as though you can’t continue. This is when you’re thankful to have your soulmate by your side.

They can spur you on to accomplish your running goals and complete your training to the best of your ability. Plus, studies have shown that you’re far more likely to accomplish difficult tasks with the help and support of a loved one on-hand. So there’s no reason why you can’t go running as a couple and beat your personal best!

Friendly Competition

There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition! The reasons why you run with your partner might be completely void of any aggression, but there’s no harm in putting each other to the test every now and again! It will only make you both stronger runners.

Start off with some relaxed runs so you can both find your feet, before having a go at breaking each other’s running records for your favourite running routes.

Keep it civil, though! The last thing we need is for you both to run yourselves out over a little silly competitiveness!

Sharing the Journey

When running as a couple, if you both enjoy exploring and discovering new places, why not make it your mission to run as many beautiful running routes as possible?

You never know, you might end up stumbling across your new favourite hangout!
